Inflatable Boats Waterskiing

Water-skiing is not very much appreciated by people as it is a very noisy sport. Only people who are adventure lovers want to be indulged in the waves zipping in and out of the moored boats. Water skiing is a sport where an individual is pulled behind a motor boat on a body of water. Person holoding a tow rope keeps skimming on the surface of the water.

Large ribs are often ideal as ski boats as they are heavy enough to pull any number of skiers. They offer rapid acceleration with excellent visibility, maneuverability, low freeboard and incredible stability make getting skiers in and out of the water a snap, and the hard deep-V hull offers control and planning performance that will equal or better conventional craft.

Any boat towing a skier should have the towline attached to a yoke or harness rather than to a single cleat. Towlines are particularly important when you are towing from an inflatable. The smaller the inflatable, the more important the towline is. The yoke keeps the pull of the skier on the boat's centerline, letting the boat track straight no matter how heavy the skier. Tying the tow rope to one side will tend to yaw to that side only. Small boats like Achilles simply run in circles around a skier sitting motionless in the water.

One having large sport boat or a small RIB with at least a 25-hp motor can easily enjoy occasional waterskiing. It can not give you the speed and performance as compared to the big RIBs. You must understand that when towing a skier, the maneuverability of a fabric-bottom sportboat will be miserable, so give an extra wide berth to anchored boats with their curmudgeon skippers sipping martinis in the cockpit.
